Loyal companion and efficient reliever: Proventil inhaler

Asthma is a rather bothering and uncomfortable condition that constrains a human life or, to be more exact, changes it in some way. Since the moment one is diagnosed with asthma appears a necessity to carry one fast-acting inhaler in a pocket, a bag or have one at one’s fingertips in view of an unexpected severe asthma attack. One of these medications, Proventil, is a time-proved asthma and CODP symptoms reliever.
Proventil is known as a short-acting bronchodilator used in the event of asthma attack to stop a bronchospasm. Bronchodilators quickly relieve the tension of smooth muscles that surround airways. Tensed muscles constrict airways and a person cannot make a breath. As soon as the muscles relaxed, airways are able to increase the volume of air passed through the lungs. This process seldom takes more than a few minutes. But the effect, correspondently, does not last long. One may use a Proventil inhaler to relieve sudden asthma symptoms and cannot use it to prevent any further asthma attack. The exception is the case when Proventil can help to avoid an exercise-induced bronchospasm.
Proventil can be used as a part of complex asthma treatment. Each of 200 doses contained in a Proventil inhaler consists of its active ingredient, Albuterol, and other inactive components. The generic name of the drug in America is Albuterol Sulfate when the same medication is known in World Health Organization as Salbutamol Sulfate. If a patient wants his asthma symptoms get easier as soon as possible, (s)he has to follow the doctor’s recommendations properly and use a Proventil inhaler correctly. A new metered-dose inhaler with Albuterol, as well as with any other drug contained inside, should be primed before the first use. This process consists in spraying out 3-4 doses of the medication keeping the inhaler away from the face. The same operation is to be done if the inhalator has not been used for more than 4 weeks. Before each use one should shake the device during 5-10 seconds. Inhalation should be co-ordinated with pushing the plastic actuator on the top of canister. Breathe in quickly and deeply, than hold the breath for about 10 seconds or as long as you can to let the whole dose of the medication get into the lungs. For better effect, try to make an inhalation in the presence of your doctor. If there is something you make wrong, a specialist will correct you.
Even being properly used, a Proventil inhaler may cause a number of side effects. Such as: pain in the chest, abnormal heart rhythm, shaking, groundless anxiety, low level of potassium in the blood, extremely high blood pressure and connected with it headache, problems with vision, short breath. Quite rare, but still possible the following side effects of Provebtil: giddiness, insomnia, cough, sore throat, stuffiness in nose, hoarseness, nausea, and dry mouth. If you experience these side effects and they persist and bother you, it is advised to call your doctor in charge as soon as possible.
Do not forget to keep one Proventil inhaler with you everywhere you are. And control the quantity of the drug in the canister to avoid a fatal mistake.
